I have been lusting after Dr PH Martins ink for years.  One of my darling  step daughters  gave me a gift certificate to Dick Blick for Christmas, and my goodies came in a few days ago.   Along with the Dr. Martins, I received encaustic paints, pan pastels, and Golden mediums.  I'm taking the Strathmore online class from Traci Bautista, and am having fun making some very colorful backgrounds

This morning around 4am the motor on the central a/c unit for the second floor of our house died.  My DH and I both woke up about the same time and realized we were a lot warmer than usual.  Luckily for us, we were able to get a repair person out this morning and he was able to locate the part so the system can be repaired tomorrow.  Thankfully there is another system that cools the first floor

Today I worked on making paper flowers inspired by Tim Holtz, and several mixed media collages.  The collage I am sharing today started several weeks ago as a painting of a face.  I didn't like where the painting was going, so I gessoed over it and started a collage.  The collage is one of many techniques that I learned from Chris Cozen and Julie Pritchard on the Land of the Lost Luggage network.

Wanted to share a great new way to store your pan pastels, in case you didn't know.  The storage trays come in two sizes..storage for 10 or 20 pastel pans.  Before buying the trays, I had mine stacked on top of each other which was great for storage but not so great when it was time to use them.  With the trays, now I can see them easier.  Love these creamy pastels.  Have a great weekend everyone!

What I am sharing today is a painting I did that taught me to never give up.  I started the painting as 12 x9 as opposed to 9 x 12.  I painted several trees and blotted on paint to add the spring buddings.   It very fast turned into a hot mess. lol.  Instead of throwing the canvas out, as I would have in the past, I decided to try to make lemonade out of lemons.  I added with stamped pattern

As mentioned in my previous post, I am taking an on-line calligraphy class; and I also purchased a Zentangles kit on ETSY.  Here are photos of my first three Zentangle tiles, and calligraphy lettering.  I enjoy both of these art forms... they are really relaxing.  As I get better with the calligraphy, I think it will be fun to use in my paintings.

I am taking an on-line class from Mary Ann Moss (Remains of the Day).  I used one of my favorite color combinations, red,black, and white fabric scraps to construct the cover.   I used novelty quilting fabric for the inside of the cover.  Now that the cover is done, later today or tomorrow, I will work on the pages for the journal.  The cover was great fun to make.

Took a short doll class and learned how to make a doll bust. It only took an afternoon to make. I have been experimenting with different types of clay recently, while learning to make armatures. I think I am parchal to Super Sculpy for sculpting because it is so soft, but bakes really hard. More to show soon.

After my doctor's appointment today ( shots in my knees for arthritis) I decided to do a bit of shop browsing before going home. Okay in this week of the class, we are to add journaling to the pages. I decided not to add any journaling to my pages. We had been encouraged to fill our pages with art, so there is little or no room for journaling. I love the art and can do without seeing my handwriting messing up the page. This week we are taking our journal ages a step further by adding doodles. I added doodles as well as a bit more collage on the pages. I als0 decided to make an additional page (pink). I am really enjoying this online class. I never really worked on journal pages prior to this month, and I have learned a lot from this class as well as from pushing myself to journal each day with Misty Mawn. As
